For reasons of software affordability, students have the choice of doing the course in the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or the free to download Open Source Adobe equivalents (Inkscape, Gimp, Scribus). Or a combination of both.
The software training component of the graphic design course has been designed to correspond perfectly with the studies and assignments set in the Theory section of the course. The course consists of over 500 pages of training with over 100 custom made software training videos.

Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is an extensive vector-editing software package developed and edited par Adobe Systems. Adobe Illustrator is considered the industry-standard editor. InkScape
Inkscape is a Free and open source vector editor whose primary native format is SVG. Its stated goal is to become a powerful graphics tool while being fully compliant with the XML, SVG, and CSS standards. Inkscape is especially popular on Linux, though it is available for Windows, Mac OS X. Inkscape has multi-lingual support, particularly for complex scripts, something currently lacking in most commercial vector graphics applications.

The Gimp
The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free software raster graphics editor. The GIMP product vision sees GIMP as a high-end program for the editing and creation of original images, icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements. Scribus
Scribus is a desktop publishing application; released under the GNU General Public License as free software. Scribus is designed for flexible layout and typesetting, and the ability to prepare files for professional quality image setting equipment. It can also create animated and interactive PDF presentations and forms. Example uses include writing small newspapers, brochures, newsletters, posters and books. It provides a combination of “press-ready” output and new approaches to page layout. Underneath the modern and user friendly interface, Scribus supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation.
